    Fun-trition.

A 12 week programme (6 week blocks – Level 1 and 2) designed to support a ‘whole school approach’ to teaching healthy food and lifestyle choices to Primary School aged children and their families.

    School Food Plan

An agreed plan published by the Department for Education in July 2013. It sets out 17 actions to transform what children eat in school and how they learn about food. In January 2016, guidance from the School Food Plan was integrated into the national Ofsted framework for inspectors. There are lessons within the Fun-Trition programme that specifically support the outcomes outlined in the School Food Plan including the main objective - to support schools to increase school meal uptake especially within KS2 (www.schoolfoodplan.com).

    Curriculum Based Lessons

The Fun-Trition programme provides both theoretical and practical structured lessons with specific learning outcomes. These are linked primarily with the curriculums of Science, Design & Technology and PHSE, but they also provide learning opportunities that contribute to other core curriculum subjects such as Maths, English and Geography.

The aim of the Fun-Trition programme is to encourage children and their families to participate in making healthy lifestyle choices by providing them with the skills, knowledge and confidence to make healthy changes.

    Fun physical activity for EVERYONE…

PLAY Active sessions encourage fun-based physical activity rather than traditional sports. As an extracurricular programme it can run at any time during the school day - before school, during lunch breaks or as an after school club – a typical session will last around 60 minutes.

The aim of PLAY Active is to encourage non-sporty children to get physically active through structured activities. By placing the emphasis on inclusion rather than specific sport skills and techniques, children are encouraged to have fun. This in turn improves social skills, self esteem, balance, coordination and physical wellbeing.

This in turn improves social skills, self esteem, balance, co-ordination and physical well-being.

In addition children will learn a wide variety of skills that they can use beyond the sports field, including:

    • Celebrate perseverance and acknowledge achievement
    • Engage and interact appropriately with other children
    • Set achievable personal goals to reach
    • Improve confidence and self-esteem to try something new
    • Ability to follow rules and respect themselves and others
    • Understand the importance of healthy lifestyles
    • Improved control coordination, balance, agility and flexibility
    • Communicate appropriately and effectively with others

At participating venues Children attending these activities can also work towards a Passport to Learning certificate, developed by the Children’s University.

This is just about the coolest thing you can do for your kids.

They’ll get the moves and gain the confidence to express themselves in the style they see and love in music videos and movies. It’s where they can be themselves, and be better for it.

Energetic, fun and educational, it’s also totally cool!

Not exactly sure what Street Dance is?

Commercial dance, Street Jazz, Hip-Hop and Funk are all the words that fall under the umbrella known as Street Dance. Premier Performing Arts Street Dance Classes incorporate all of these styles to create and uplifting and exciting atmosphere to learn in.

You need to know these things! There’s a whole range of seriously cool moves in Street Dance.

Your kids will learn about things like-

    • Locking – that distinctive way of ‘freezing’ between moves
    • Popping – the jerky moves. Think Michael Jackson and Justin Timberlake
    • Breaking – you know about Break Dancing!
    • Krumping – straight out of LA, sharp and very stylish!

    It’s seriously cool!

They get started and get moving with a warm up session. It’s a great way to break the ice and lose any inhibitions. After learning some basic footwork they develop sequences of moves. They’re soon putting together a continuous dance.

This is high energy, and really productive, activity. By the time the class is over they’ll all have grasped some basic choreography.

Best of all? They’re stepping up in confidence and fitness while they do the steps that make them feel cool. They’re learning about teamwork while working the moves like they were in a video?

Children attending these activities can also work towards their Arts Award.
