1. Try a new food each month

That’s just 12 new pieces of food you have to try next year. Why not broaden your horizons and try a new cuisine altogether? This might give you the push you need to kick those bad habits and start eating clean. You could try some new greens or some new fruits – there are thousands to choose from.

2. Play that sport you used to love. Or try a new one.

Roll back the years, fasten your laces and step onto the court. Remember how you used to feel running round playing your favourite sport with all of your friends? You can feel it once more! Whatever you were into, reignite that passion by playing with family or friends.

3. Make time to relax.

This one might sound odd, but one of the best things you can do for yourself, is to take a break. It doesn’t have to be jetting off into the sun – taking a break can be anything, such as putting your feet up in front of a warm fire, or a day trip to the spa. Take an hour from your hectic schedule for some quality ‘me’ time and you’ll feel happier, and refreshed.

4. Use less technology

Set a time in the day where you don't use any technology - and this means phones switched off! Fill the time either playing with the kids at home, or going out into nature - exploring, climbing trees, or going on a long, relaxing walk. It's good to take a break from technology and familiarise yourself with the things in life that are natural - and free!

5. Learn something new

Did you never learn to do something as a child, which you regret not doing? It's not too late! Take up swimming lessons, learn to ride a bike, or try learning a different language - the world is still your oyster.
