19/05/2016

Olympic Gold Medalist, Duncan Goodhew MBE, paid a visit to Durrington High School and Storrington First School on Tuesday 10th May – inspiring the children to get active!

Approximately 100 children took part in various sport activities including archery and fencing, and were audience to an inspirational assembly delivered by the Olympian himself.

Kim Trott, PE Leader at Thakeham First School commented on the visit:

“What a wonderful way to spend an afternoon! Duncan Goodhew talking to a hall full of Storrington First School children plus visiting children, staff and helpers from the 5 other local STARS schools, was so inspiring and also hugely entertaining. His messages to keep trying to do the best you can, not only at sport but in everything you attempt, were really heard and understood. The enthusiasm from the coaches and children was really catching, we all had aching faces from smiling so much. On the way back to school one child summed up her experience as 'the best day ever!’”

Premier Sport are delighted that everyone enjoyed the day so much, and it really highlights the positive impact inspirational athletes can have on young children – motivating them to live healthy and active lifestyles.
