Tips for Stress-Free Christmas Shopping with the Kids!

02/11/2016

Everyone knows how stressful Christmas shopping can be... crowds of people, everyone trying to get "that" toy, whilst trying to keep the children happy and avoid tantrums at all costs! That's why we thought we'd give you some tips and tricks on how to manage the Christmas shopping, for if you bring the kids with you...

 1. Avoid if possible!

Crowded shopping centres obviously aren't the best place to take your kids, especially around this time of the year! So if you have a family member or friend to look after the children for a couple of hours, that would be ideal. But we know that's not always an option!

2. Plan in advance

Make a list, note down which shops you need to go to, and plan your route. Avoid any possible distractions, so that the trip runs as smoothly as possible.

3. Prepare the kids

Let the children know what the plan is - remind them to keep by your side at all times, and to walk nicely next to you (rather than running ahead!) and let them know what you're planning on doing after the shopping trip. Make it fun!

4. Keep it short and sweet

Keep shopping trips with kids short, and shop at intervals - having breaks in between. Plus, always be ready to leave if you predict a tantrum is on the cards!

5. Treat the kids afterwards

Plan a fun activity for after the shopping trip - whether this is a trip to feed the ducks, an hour at a play park, or a fun game of sport. It's important to reward good behaviour, and it could encourage them to enjoy future shopping trips.

So there you have it - hopefully the next Christmas shopping experience with the kids will be a little less daunting, and a lot more enjoyable for all of you!
